REFLECTION

Experience
Typography is a new thing to me. This module was quite difficult at the beginning as I do not know much about Typography and do not have a strong foundation in arts. I took some time adapting to it and luckily it went well. So when I am on the track, I could understand a key point or a new convention of typography. I have learned a lot not only about Typography but also about some mindsets that are very useful to me as a design student. Overall, I find this module quite fun to learn and explore. Of course, I have encountered tough and unfavourable situations and setbacks, but those are things that let me learn and build up my resilience.

Observations
After learning Typography, I noticed that I would observe the types on the street, on social media, etc, anywhere I could see the types. Sometimes I would even take a look at the nuances in the letterforms. My observational skills improved through this module. When practising the judgement exercise, I noticed our opinions and feedback may not be as comprehensive as the lecturers' due to the difference in experience but we may see something that others do not notice. I think it is important to learn from every feedback.

Findings
We know Typography is about type but what we do not know is the conventions and nuances behind the type. This is why we have to learn typography. I like to observe the nuances presented in the letterforms of different typefaces. When I began noticing the types on the streets, I found them quite fascinating. Previously I just saw the types as texts and information, but now I see designs within them.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with my efforts throughout the module, as I completed all of them and took every effort to do so. The most meaningful thing is that I learned a lot from my work and throughout the module. Sometimes we are overwhelmed by too much feedback. However, we just have to take it as a reference and believe in ourselves that we can use the things we learned to create good designs. It's impossible for us to do everything perfectly, but we can do our best.
