REFLECTION

Experience
The most enjoyable task for me was working on the Eight Typographic Systems. I found it fascinating to create impactful compositions and layouts using only text, and I was willing to take risks and explore various arrangements. Task 2, which focused on brand identity, provided a valuable learning opportunity, but I struggled to express myself through the key artwork I created. On the other hand, Task 3 required detailed and subtle efforts to ensure a consistent font design. It was satisfying to complete a full set of fonts, although I acknowledge that there is still room for improvement. Overall, I found the tasks in this module to be more challenging compared to Typography.

Observation
Throughout this module, I could observe the weaknesses in my design approach, such as being indecisive and lacking direction. Additionally, I have identified a need for a stronger foundation in design skills and knowledge. My creations in the tasks were relatively basic, particularly in the areas of visual communication in branding (Task 2) and font applications (Task 3). Recognising my insufficiencies has made me more attentive to designs I encounter in my daily life, including logos, brands, and typography.

Findings
Overall, the tasks presented in this module were challenging but provided valuable opportunities for learning, exploration, and breaking of boundaries. Engaging in these tasks allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills in typographic systems, branding, and font creation. Task 3, in particular, deepened my understanding of the interplay between forms and counter forms as I delved into the construction of my font.

The experience provided valuable insights and allowed me to push my boundaries, but yet to reach my potential. Thus, it is crucial to establish a solid foundation of design knowledge and skills, as well as maintain a passion for creating impactful and meaningful designs to further advance in the field of design and reach new heights in my design journey.
