WEEK 1 Lecture: Introduction to Digital Photography and Imaging

TUTORIAL

Mr Fauzi played the video of the process of him creating the physical collage as the tutorial for making the collage.

PRACTICAL

We were assigned to do the following tasks below in Week 1 and start our Project 1 – Physical Collage Design.

TASKS
1. Bézier game  https://bezier.method.ac/

We had time to play the Bézier Game during the practical session. Bézier Game is a game to help us master and familiar with the pen tool. I had fun in this game and I got 27 nodes left for the whole game.

2. E-portfolio and Pinterest Board Set Up

We are assigned to set up our E-portfolio on Blogger, with the reference video shared by Mr Fauzi, and create a DPI board on Pinterest to save design ideas for this module.

3. 3 Favourite Graphic Design Artworks

We have to discover 3 graphic design artworks that catch our eyes the most on Pinterest.

Here are my 3 favourite graphic design artwork:

Number 9 (by Jesus Llancare)

This artwork Number 9 is one of the series of artwork named 36 Days of Types - Letters with purpose designed by the designer, and it was the last piece of the series. The Number 9 is a 3D design that has a space filled with a mini world that created a marine ecosystem with several surreal elements. I find it amazing the creativity of the designer with his idea.

Collage Art of Saigon (by D.C.K)

Saigon is also known as Ho Chi Minh City, the capital of Vietnam. This collage art of Saigon shows the overview of Saigon city, including the imposing historical and iconic buildings, the street view, and the Virgin Mary Statue. I like the composition of this collage art made up by the designer.

David Collage Pop Art Graffiti

I was amazed by the creativity of this artwork, which used the form of collage to create the appearance of “David". The use of magazine materials looks dazzling at first sight. However, the designer uses the different colours of the magazine materials to create light and shadow to form the appearance of “David”.

PROJECT 1: Collage Design

Physical Collage

We were required to prepare our collage materials from any media such as magazines or newspapers. We should use the collage materials to compose some compositions by trying different attempts. The collages created can present a story or an illogical flow.

I have collected my collage materials from these magazines.

I came out with several compositions for the collage at home.
