I decided to go with the idea of sketch #3. Below are the photographs of the objects:

Photo manipulation in Adobe Photoshop:

STEP 1  Select objects and refines the edges in mask mode 

STEP 2  Paste the cropped objects into a new document 
STEP 3  Mask the onion onto the spray bottle
STEP 4  Merge and combine the spray bottle and onion by using Brush Tool

STEP 5  Adjust the brightness of the onion (comparison between before and after)
brightness: 15; contrast: 26

STEP 6  Add shadows onto the manipulated object and below it

STEP 7  Add a solid colour as the background
STEP 8  Adjust the levels of the whole image
